The Golfer's Dictionary

A dictionary of popular golf terms from the perspective of an amateur golfer, if you have any suggestions then feel free to get in touch and I'll add them.

Entries

Eagle

Two under par, typically achieved by exceptional golfers or those with "good marking abilities"

Equipment

Things used to throughout the round of golf. According to the rules, this includes anything that can be thrown, broken, kicked, propelled, driven (either by it's own power or propelled) into the underbrush or trees.

Etiquette

As outlined in the rules, the general behaviour whilst in the vicinity of the course. Including (but not limited to):

  • Never pick your nose wiht tee pegs
  • Never sneeze into your glove
  • Never hold a ball for another golfer to hit
  • Never wear golf shoes to a dance

Explosive Shot

A shot taken from a bunker without making contact with the sand which causes other golfers to "duck and cover" and the player to fly off the handle.
