The Golfer's Dictionary

A dictionary of popular golf terms from the perspective of an amateur golfer, if you have any suggestions then feel free to get in touch and I'll add them.

Entries

Obstructions

According to the rules outlined by the R&A, golfer's may move their balls away from artificial objects such as:

  • Articles of clothing discarded from a nearby bunker
  • Overturned burning golf buggies
  • Dazed or unconscious golfer's
  • Plastic rocks (just the right size to fit in a golf bag)

One Putt

The art of putting the ball in the hole with a single shot on the green, despite the 9 it took to get there.

Out of Bounds

The area on a course marked by white stakes, however due to the curvature of the earth a ball considered by an opponent to be out of bounds may in fact be several hundred feet within the bounds of the hole currently being played.
