The Golfer's Dictionary

A dictionary of popular golf terms from the perspective of an amateur golfer, if you have any suggestions then feel free to get in touch and I'll add them.

Entries

Yard

One of the old basic measurements in golf and has several meanings depending on where you are on the course:

  • It is equivalent to about 4 meters when determining if a ball is out of bounds
  • In the 19th it is a measure of liquid available for consumption
  • On the tee it is the final destination of the shot about to be played if playing on a course with residential buildings down one side
